[14th July, 2024] Sen Essy Okenyuri launched the Mchakato Wa Usomi Book Program at Nyangeti DEB Secondary School,this is a program under the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation.
The Purpose of Mchakato Wa Usomi Project under EssyOkenyuriNyaituga Foundation is to promote and inculcate a reading culture in students.A book might seem like a small thing in the fight against inequality – but we see every day how a book can spark a transformation.
This year’s strategic plan focuses on Identification of needy rural schools(primary and secondary schools) and creating the opportunity to read for students who face the greatest barriers to learning – sharing the power of the book and helping to create a more equal society. Good example is Nyangeti DEB Secondary School that’s benefiting today.
The team looks forward to developing dynamic partnerships with organisations that share our vision of creating more equitable access to books such as Moran Publishers who donated these books.
